„Faust” Sokurowa nie jest adaptacja filmowa tragedii Goethego w tradycyjnym sensie, ale czytaniem miedzy słowami. Jakie kolory niesie w sobie świat, w którym wzrastają wielkie idee? Czym ten świat pachnie?

Sokurov’s „Faust” is not a film adaptation of Goethe’s tragedy in the usual sense, but a reading of what remains between the lines. What is the color of word that gives raise to colossal ideas? What does it smell like?

ALEXANDER SOKUROW urodził się w 1951 roku. W 1978 ukonczył VGIK Instytut Filmowy. Zrealizował tam swój debiut „Glos samotnego człowieka”. Film został odrzucony przez kierownictwo VGIK-u, ale zyskało niekończące się pochwały Andrzeja Tarkowskiego. Sokurow rozpoczął w wytwórni Leninfilm w Leningradzie, gdzie kilka jego pierwszych filmów zapracowało na jego opinie jako dysydenta. Jego liczne fabuły, takie jak: „Moloch”, „Cielec”, Rosyjska Arka”, „Ojciec i Syn”, „Alexandra” przyniosły mu uznanie za granicą.

Alexander Sokurow was born in 1951. In 1978 he gratuaded from the VGIK Cinema Institute, making his first feature „The Lonely Voice of Man” The film was turned down by the VIGK management but was neverthless praised by Andrei Tarkowsky. Sokurow began work at the Leninfilm Studios in Leningrad, where his first few works earned him a reputation as a dissident. His numerous features, like „Moloch”Taurus”,”Russian Ark”, Father and Son”, „Alexandra” have earned him international recognition.
