Film porusza tematykę genezy niemieckiego terroryzmu. Akcja filmu rozgrywa się na początku lat 60. na terenie Wschodnich Niemiec, gdy w kraju panuje jeszcze spokój. Bernward rozpoczyna studia w Tuebingen. Marzy o tym, by zostać pisarzem. Kraj, w którym żyje, topi się w przeszłości. Od zakończenia wojny minęło piętnaście lat, starzy naziści znowu robią karierę, nie mówi się o przestępstwach wojennych. Wtedy bohater poznaje Gudrun Ensslin i jej przyjaciółkę Doerte. Gdy w 1964 odwiedzają Berlin Wschodni Bernward i Gudrun wspólnie przechodzą do pozaparlamentarnej opozycji. Chcą zmienić bieg historii: „bo kto, jak nie my?” i „kiedy, jeśli nie teraz?”.

Film tells the story about the German terror and is set in the early 60's in East Germany. The country is peaceful yet. Bernward begins studies at Tuebingen. He dreams of becoming a writer. Country where Bernward lives melts in the past. Fifteen years has passed since the end of the war, the Nazis are doing a career again and no one talks about their crimes. Then Bernward meets Gudrun Ensslin and her friend Doerte. When visited East Berlin in 1964 Gudrun and Bernward become the non-parliamentary opposition. They want to change the history, it's course, "because who, if not us?" and "when, if not now?".


ANDREAS VEIEL urodził się w Stuttgarcie w 1959 roku. W latach 1982-88 studiował psychologię w Berlinie, a później uczęszczał na seminaria z reżyserii i dramaturgii w Künstlerhaus Bethanien w Berlinie. Pisze scenariusze do filmów i sztuk teatralnych. Wykłada w Wolnym Uniwersytecie w Berlinie. Jego filmy dokumentalne m.in. “Black Box BRD” zdobywały w Niemczech liczne nagrody.

ANDREAS VEIEL was born in Stuttgart in 1959. From 1982 to 1988 he studied psychology in Berlin and after that he attended to the seminars on directing and playwriting at Künstlerhaus Bethanien in Berlin. He writes screenplays and plays. He teaches at the Free University in Berlin. His documentaries for example “Black Box BRD” have won numerous awards in Germany.
