„W lepszym świecie“ opowiada historię dwóch rodzin, których drogi splatają się ze sobą. Przyjaźń Christiana z Eliasem zaczyna się, gdy Christian po śmierci matki wraca razem z ojcem do Danii. W tym samym czasie Elias musi zmierzyć się z separacją rodziców. Film porusza temat dojrzewania w otoczeniu pełnym przemocy i kłamstwa, w którym chłopcy próbują się odnaleźć. Wśród napiętych relacji dorosłych i ich konfliktów, dzieci starają się znaleźć drogę do normalności.

“In a Better World” tells a story of two families whose paths begin to entwine. Friendship of Elias and Christian begins when Christian after his mothers death returns to Denmark with his father. At the same time Elias has to face his parents separation. The movie brings up the topic of growing up in ambient full of violence and lies, in which boys are trying to find themselves. Among tense relations of adults, their disagreements, kids are seeking to find a way to normality.


SUSANNE BIER jest duńską reżyserką pochodzenia żydowskiego. Studiowała sztukę i architekturę na uniwersytecie w Jerozolimie oraz reżyserię w szkole filmowej w Kopenhadze. Jest laureatką licznych nagród, jednak międzynarodową sławę przyniósł jej dopiero uhonorowany na wielu festiwalach film „Bracia” z 2004 roku. Sukces zawodowy przypieczętowało zdobycie w 2011 roku Oscara za najlepszy film nieanglojęzyczny dla najnowszej produkcji reżyserki – „W lepszym świecie”.

SUSANNE BIER is a Dutch director of Jewish origin. She studied art and architecture at the University of Jerusalem and film directing at film school in Copenhagen. She received numerous awards, however “Brothers” from 2004 was the movie, which brought her international fame and was honoured at many festivals. Her successful career was crowned by an 2011 Oscar for the best foreign language film – "In a better world".
